Welcome to the website of the United Nations Country Team in Belize. This site hopes to be a useful source of information for policy makers, institutional partners, educators, students, the media, and for anyone who is interested in knowing what the United Nations System does in Belize. The UN is working in Belize through its four resident - and a number of non-resident - UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes with the aim of reducing poverty and ensuring human rights are accessible by all Belizeans. The Agencies do this by working on programmes in areas such as health including HIV/AIDS, education, good governance, environmental sustainability, and disaster risk reduction.
This portal demonstrates the combined positive efforts and results of Belize and the UN, working together. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or recommendations concerning this site or the UN in general, we would be happy to hear from you.
The eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) - which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target of 2015 - from a blueprint agreed to by all the world's countries and the world's leading institutions. They have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the need of the world's poorest. Click here to view the full report on Belize.
